What’s a Good Art Platform

Posted by Mattmax483 - February 16th, 2024

Hi guys my name is Matthew and like most of us I am a digital artist. I need your guys help. I want to use different social media platform other than Newgrounds. I did use Instagram but it is quite a hellhole and I actually do not like it at all. So, I’m just wonder is there a better platform where I can post my artwork? I been thinking about Twitter but I’m not quite sure about it yet. So, thank you if you comment or suggested what platform I should use because you guys can be very helpful. Hope you guys have a good day as well!!

Sadly, I don't know if there is a place like Newgrounds. I have tried dev art, but it is so very different now that AI is the main focus. Twitter is an option, but it is not very artist-friendly and will require more than just art posts to be successful. Not being able to edit posts is a significant issue on Twitter, as well.

Hopefully, you find something, though!

Thanks for the info

NG is really the only good art platform I know of, sorry :/ There aren't really any good ones other than this one that aren't focused on AI art or are super shitty and algorithm-run

That’s ok

Pinterest.

I'm not joking.

I think some people keep multiple platforms updated by using something called PostyBirb.

i'm mainly active here on Newgrounds for my art stuff lol, with the other end being on Twitter!

i used to post my work on Instagram! but i found the platform very "not-for-me". also i got locked out of my account so i just stopped with it lmao

you could try out Bluesky! it's "like Twitter but better"

you could try joining servers on Discord, particularly art/artist focused servers, and share your work there :3

and lastly, if you can do even little clips with your artwork (speedpaints, edits, montages, etc), you could even consider sites like YouTube and TikTok!

of course be careful in traversing 'round these sites <3 best of luck!

I’ll give that a try thank you

Bluesky just went public and is good for artists, I'm not an artist so I could be wrong but it's definitely a lot better than twitter, there is a feature where you can follow tags such as "art" to find brand new artists on your feed

Didn’t know that one exist I’ll check the one too

DeviantArt.

well, maybe you could try using tumblr.

I’ll check that out

Sadly, most platforms are either too large and competitive or run too horribly for using them to be justifiable. i could endlessly criticize most platforms before i find one that isn't so bad, but i guess smaller art circles are always a good and more chill choice instead of the large mainstream ones overrun by insane people.

And honestly, don't waste your time on Twitter. it's overrun by literal bots, full of engagement farming, and all levels of stupidity imaginable and unimaginable and even if you don't look for these things they'll still end up on your timeline. had this been a few years earlier i'd probably tell you to use it before anything else, but not with how badly it's being run now.

Honestly, Newgrounds really is the best option for when it comes to gaining popularity. However you can post on Tumblr & Deviantart, which will probably work out considering you have some fans here already.

Oh yeah here's a tip: If you wanna get more fans then engage in collabs. I made only 16 artworks, yet I have 55 fans. That way you'll get a bigger following wherever platform you're on.
